Privacy Policy

Chatovo ("we", "us", "our") operates the Chatovo voice and video communication service at https://chatovo.ru and related applications, including the Android app.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using Chatovo, you agree to this policy.

Account data: email address, display name, password (stored as a secure hash), and optional profile fields (bio, avatar, banner color, external profile URL).

Session data: session tokens, IP address, browser or app user agent, and session expiry timestamps.

Rooms: room names, privacy settings, optional room passwords, and ownership metadata.

Chat messages: text you send in rooms, edit history metadata, and file attachments you upload (images and other files up to 25 MB per attachment).

Voice and video: audio and video streams are transmitted in real time through LiveKit (WebRTC). We do not record or permanently store voice or video content on our servers.

Device and app settings stored locally: authentication token, audio/video preferences, locale, recent rooms, and per-participant volume levels.

Support requests: when you report a problem, we may receive your message, optional screenshot, and account identifier.

Provide and maintain the service: authentication, rooms, voice/video sessions, text chat, and profile management.

Security and abuse prevention: session validation, access control, and operational monitoring.

Communications: transactional emails such as email verification and password reset.

Improve the product: diagnose errors and understand usage patterns at an aggregate level.

We process data to perform our contract with you (providing the service), based on legitimate interests (security and product improvement), and where required, your consent (for example, optional profile fields or device permissions).

LiveKit — real-time voice, video, and data channels.

SMTP email provider — delivery of verification and password reset emails.

Hosting and infrastructure providers that operate our servers and databases.

Google Play — app distribution and updates on Android (Google Play policies apply).

Account and profile data is kept while your account is active.

Chat messages and uploaded files are kept until deleted by you or removed as part of account deletion.

Session logs are kept for a limited period required for security and troubleshooting.

You can delete the account yourself: Settings → Account → Delete account, or from chatovo.ru/account/delete. Deletion is confirmed through a link we email you.

Chatovo allows users to publish text, files, and profile information. You are responsible for content you share.

To report abusive content or users, contact zilero@chatovo.ru with room name, message details, and screenshots if available.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate our Terms of Service or applicable law.

Chatovo is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact zilero@chatovo.ru.

We use HTTPS for API traffic and WSS for realtime media. Passwords are hashed. Access to production systems is restricted.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your data may be processed on servers located outside your country. We take steps to protect data in line with this policy.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

Contact zilero@chatovo.ru to exercise these rights. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

We may update this policy. We will post the new version at https://chatovo.ru/privacy and update the "Last updated" date.
